PROMINENT EAR CORRECTION

Although prominent ears may be an inherited problem from parents, both males and females are affected in the same way. However females can disguise this problem with their hair. The most common causes of prominent/protruding ears, can also be the reason of an under developed effaced or absent antihelical fold or an over developed and/or excessively deep conchal bowl.

Prominent ear surgery is a surgical procedure performed by making an incision behind the ear. Prominent ears are corrected by weakening and reshaping the cartilages with special techniques and suturing methods. With this procedure, the scar is located behind the ear, the cartilage is not cut, no skin part is removed from behind the ear, swelling is too limited, and the results are permanent.

Who should have a prominent ear operation?

It is needed if the ears' prominent appearance upsets the child or his/her family, and if the child is teased at school due to this condition.
